This second installment of this three-part series will focus on the Super Bowl 59 Champions, the Philadelphia Eagles. I will track how many players from the past 5 years, the Eagles draft from the Top 30 visits and identify patterns in their meetings.
** COVID years were slightly different as the US shut down right around the NFL Combine, so any interviews from All-Star games and onward were counted in this series. **
The Philadelphia Eagles are an interesting case. From the 2019 to 2024 draft cycle the team had the same GM, Howie Roseman, but saw huge changes in the coaching staffs. The turnover included the following:
Nick Sirranni Regime:
New Offensive Coordinator - Shane Steichen
New Defensive Coordinator - Jonathon Gannon
New Special Teams Coordinator - Michael Clay
New Passing Game Coordinator - Kevin Patullo
Pederson Staff which were retained:
Jeff Stoutland - Offensive Line Coach and Running Game Coordinator
Roy Istvan - Assistant Offensive Line Coach (left in 2023 to join the Browns)
Aaron Moorehead - Wide Receivers Coach
T.J. Paganetti - Offensive Quality Control Coach (left in 2024 to Join Kellen Moore and the New Orlean Saints)
Joe Pannunzio - Assistant Special Teams Coordinator (left in 2024 to join Patriots)
Ted Rath - Vice President of Player Performance (left in 2023 and recently joined New Orlean Saints in 2025)
Only 2 holdovers from the Pederson days remain with the Eagles Staff in 2025, Jeff Stoutland and Aaron Moorehead.
With the change in staff also came a change in defensive and offensive schemes. There were huge shifts in how each coaching staff used Top 30 visits and which type of players were selected.
The Eagles currently have one of the larger analytical teams in the NFL with only the Browns, Jaguars, Raiders having more staff. Intestingly the size of this team did not expand with a change in coaches. Alec Halaby continued leading the department. However, one of Pederson’s key analytical researchers, Ryan Paganetti, was released with the coaching scheme changes.
2024 Draft Cycle
I found 30 Top 30 visits during last year’s cycle. Including drafts and UDFAs the player selection rate is 13%. All draftees and UDFAs are bolded.
