Top-20 EDGE Pass Rushers for 2023 Draft
Ranking EDGE Production through 4 weeks
Pass rushers get evaluated on a myriad of aspects, from the nuances of technique to the athleticism to dominate. Today, NFL33 releases the first in-season tracking measurement of production for NCAA pass rushers.
As of week 4 in the NCAA season, five NFL Draft-eligible EDGE prospects lead the country with 6 QB Sacks each. Alabama Edge Will Anderson highlights the list. Sacks are the classic stat to look at pass-rush, but they do not tell the whole story of a pass-rushers dominance or projection to the NFL.
It requires more insight into how and when pass-rushers are successful. To begin to answer this question, we look at the Passrush Production Matrix (PPM) powered by Rogue Performance Consulting.
The PPM metric utilizes three core inputs: Win Rate, Pressure Rate and Finish Rate. They are defined as:
Win Rate - % passrush-snaps that result in defeating the OL block.
Pressure Rate - % passrush-snaps that result in a QB pressure.
Finish rate - % pressure-snaps that result in a QB Sack
PPM composites these metrics into an overall production value.
