These are top Producing QBs in CFB going into week 5
College football kicks off week 5 with a quarterback class that has ballooned in the early runnings of 2023. From the expected front runners like Caleb Williams to the fresh-faced surprises like Riley Leonard, this class will undoubtedly shake out as the season goes on, but we can now start to look at production across the 2024 NFL draft quarterback class.
We begin today with the QB Passing Production Matrix (QBPPM), provided by Rogue Performance Consulting (RogueAPC.com). This is a composite ranking based on a wide variety of quarterback-specific metrics. This is based solely on on-field production and does not account for film review and grading. The all-important film grading will be a separate process for our analysts at NFL 33 and RAPC. Today, we look solely at statistical production and the analytics of the first four weeks.
QBPPM compares the performance above expectation for both the college level and the projection to the professional level. These standout metrics to this point in the season are highlighted below, and are the current rankings.
The 2023 draft saw a record 12 quarterbacks drafted in the first five rounds, shattering a record set in 1995. But the 2024 draft might up the ante, with scouts envisioning as many as 20 passers being drafted, notably from the quarterback-rich Pac-12 conference. It has five of the current QBPPM Top-10.
