Ring Chasers: AFC West Draft Grades
Everyone's looking up at the reigning Super Bowl champions, how'd they do in the 2023 Draft and did any team in their division get closer to taking them down?
Denver Broncos
Draft Grade: C+
Thanks to the Russell Wilson and the Sean Peyton trades, Denver started the draft without a first round pick. Their draft began when they traded into the end of the second round with Detroit to select Oklahoma WR Marvin Mims.
Mims adds a speed compliment to their receiver room that often injured receiver KJ Hamler has been unable to contribute, but with a packed room it’s tough for me to love the pick on it’s face. Look for Denver to trade a WR at some point.
Denver’s next three picks focused on the defense with Arkansas LB Drew Sanders, Iowa CB Riley Moss, and Boise St. S JL Skinner joining the Broncos. Sanders and Moss were third round picks and they didn’t select Skinner until the 6th. Sanders might be an answer to some pass rush help they need and Moss will come in and compete for playing time across from Surtain.
They closed out their draft finally addressing the offensive line and adding Alex Forsyth the C out of Oregon. You could argue that offensive line was among their biggest needs, even with the money they invested this offseason, and wasn’t addressed until the 7th round.
