2023 NFL Combine Preview: Cornerbacks

Few offseason events in ANY sport have as much hype around them as the NFL Combine does.

Every year, there are discussions about prospects getting more talented and more athletic - those same prospects then show up to Indianapolis for the Combine and light the world on fire. Last year saw a cornerback almost break the forty-yard dash record when Kalon Barnes clocked in at 4.23 while another corner (Tariq Woolen) ran a 4.26 40 at 6’4.

The 2023 Combine might not have any performances as big as Woolen had in 2022, but the 2023 crop has athletes that are also thought of as top-tier prospects.

The Protoype: Christian Gonzalez, Oregon

Allow me to introduce you to the current top cornerback in the 2023 NFL Draft, Oregon’s Christian Gonzalez. Listed at 6’2 and 200 pounds, Gonzalez is expected to wow at the Combine for his combination of size and pure athleticism.
